THOR Risk Gauge
Neutral. The index strategy is fully invested across the three major American indexes. The even-weight strategy holds 60.5% in three sectors and 40.0% in Treasury bills. A broad rally and calmer volatility help, while Brent above $110 and a ten-year above 5.1% keep the label at neutral.
The THOR View
Healthcare stocks hit record highs Tuesday, per Reuters. The sector rose 2.37%, the best of eleven, and closed 0.13% under its 52-week high. Eli Lilly added more points to the S&P 500 than any other stock. Amgen, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and AbbVie each gained more than 2%. Healthcare is now 21.2% of the even-weight strategy, up from 20.8% a day earlier.
The same companies moved the Dow. UnitedHealth, Merck, Johnson & Johnson and Amgen are all Dow members, and Reuters says they lifted it. The Dow rose 1.05% while the Nasdaq 100 slipped 0.10%. The Dow weights its 30 stocks by share price, not company size. So a high-priced insurer or drugmaker can swing it more than its market value would suggest. The Dow is the index strategy's largest piece at 34.0%. Tuesday, the largest piece of each strategy rallied on the same handful of names.
Financials are 20.3% of the even-weight strategy, and they rose 1.20% Tuesday. This morning's mortgage data cuts both ways for lenders. The 30-year mortgage rate dipped to 7.41% from 7.50%, per the MBA. Purchase applications still fell to 129.2 from 139.3. The bigger number for banks is the curve. The ten-year yields 31.7 basis points more than the two-year... and banks borrow short and lend long. A positive gap widens what they earn on new loans.

One Thing to Watch
Treasury auctions 20-year bonds at 1:00, and the last sale cleared at 5.420%. Weak demand would push long yields up and drag mortgage rates with them. Financials are 20.3% of the even-weight strategy, and that's the rate that sets their loan demand.
